DPF Cleaning Solution
A heavy-duty clean for a heavily blocked DPF. A road-legal way to save the filter you have rather than replacing it - typically a fraction of the cost of a new DPF.
Save The Filter, Skip The Replacement Bill
Over time, every DPF accumulates ash - the non-combustible residue left behind after soot has been burned off in regeneration cycles. Ash can't be removed by a regen, no matter how many you run. As it builds up, the filter gets more and more restricted until even a successful forced regen can't bring flow back to normal.
A proper cleaning treatment goes further than a regen. It dissolves and flushes out both soot and accumulated ash, restoring the filter substrate much closer to its original condition. After cleaning, we run a regeneration cycle to verify flow, check the differential pressure readings are back within spec, and confirm the warning light stays off.
This is a fully road-legal restorative service. Nothing is removed from the vehicle, the emissions system continues to work as the manufacturer intended, and there is no impact on your MOT. For most vehicles, a clean costs a small fraction of what a replacement DPF would.
What's Included
Which DPF Service Is Right For You?
Forced Regeneration
Lightly blocked filter, warning light just appeared, no history of repeat blockages. Often the first thing to try - quicker and cheaper than a clean.
DPF Cleaning
Heavily blocked filter, repeat warning lights, or a regen alone hasn't fixed it. Removes ash that a regen can't, and saves you the cost of a new DPF.
Replacement Filter
Physical damage to the DPF substrate, or a filter so far gone that cleaning won't restore flow. We'll be honest with you if this is the only option.
Not sure which you need? Start with our DPF Regeneration page, or just call us and we'll talk through what your vehicle is doing. For off-road, track or competition vehicles only, see our DPF / EGR Deletes service.
Frequently Asked Questions
A forced regeneration burns off accumulated soot at high temperature using the vehicle's own emissions system. That works well when the filter is moderately clogged, but it can't remove ash - the inorganic residue left behind after soot is burned off, which builds up over the life of the filter. A cleaning solution treatment dissolves and flushes out both soot and ash that a regen alone won't clear, restoring the filter much closer to factory condition.
Yes, fully road-legal. The DPF stays fitted to the vehicle and continues to function as the manufacturer intended - we're cleaning the existing filter, not removing it or altering the emissions system. There is no impact on your MOT and no change to your ECU calibration.
If you've already had a forced regen and the warning light is back quickly, if the diagnostic shows a high ash loading, or if the filter has been blocked for a long time, cleaning is the right next step. Cleaning is also the right call when the filter's soot loading is too high for a safe forced regen - rather than risk damage, we clean it first.
Cleaning works on filters where the substrate is intact. If the DPF has been physically damaged - melted, cracked or broken internally from running heavily blocked for too long - no cleaning treatment will restore it and a replacement filter is the only option. We'll diagnose this before any cleaning work and be straight with you about what's achievable.
Typically 1-2 hours. That includes a full diagnostic read, the cleaning treatment itself, a regeneration cycle to verify flow has been restored, and a final check that the warning light stays off and the differential pressure readings are back within range. The biggest factor is driving style. DPFs are designed for vehicles that get sustained motorway use - if yours mostly does short or low-speed trips, an occasional 30-40 minute motorway run lets the filter passively regenerate as it was designed to. We'll also check for sensor faults or EGR issues that can cause repeat blockages and advise on fixing those at the root.
